Why Your Clinic’s Website Isn’t Getting You Patients (And What to Fix First)

You paid for a website. It looks decent. Your logo is on it, your services are listed, and your phone number is at the bottom.

So why is your phone still quiet?

Here’s the thing. A website that looks good and a website that brings in patients are two different things. Let’s go through what’s usually going wrong.

1. People can’t find you on Google

When someone types “dentist near me” or “physiotherapy clinic in [your city],” they almost always click one of the first three results. If your site isn’t there, you don’t exist to them.

Good local SEO fixes this. Start with your Google Business Profile: correct address, real photos, opening hours, and services. Then make sure your website says the same things, using the same name, address and phone number everywhere. Google likes consistency.

2. Your site is slow on a phone

Most people check clinics on their phone, often while standing in the kitchen with a toothache. If your page takes more than three seconds to load, they’ll go back and click the next clinic.

Test your site on your own phone right now. If it feels slow, the images are probably too big or the site is loaded with things it doesn’t need. A good web development team can usually fix this in days, not months.

3. There’s no clear next step

Open your homepage and ask yourself: what should a new visitor do here?

If the answer isn’t obvious in five seconds, that’s the problem. Put a “Book an Appointment” button at the top, and again at the bottom of every page. Don’t make people hunt through menus or call during office hours only. Online booking alone can make a big difference.

4. Your pages say nothing specific

A page that says “We offer quality dental care” tells patients nothing. Every clinic says that.

Instead, write a separate page for each service, like teeth whitening, root canal, or sports injury rehab. Explain what it is, who it’s for, how long it takes, and what it costs (even a range helps). This is good for patients and good for digital marketing, because Google can now match your page to what people are actually searching for.

5. No proof that you’re trusted

People choose clinics they trust. Show real patient reviews, your team’s photos and qualifications, and any associations you belong to. Real faces beat stock photos every single time.

Where to start

Don’t try to fix everything at once. Do it in this order:

  1. Set up or clean up your Google Business Profile
  2. Check your site speed on mobile
  3. Add a clear booking button
  4. Build one page per service
  5. Add reviews and team photos

Even doing the first two will usually show a difference within a few weeks.
